The evening of Thursday 7 August marked one of the greatest moments in world history many times over as we successfully completed the Gita Gnyan Yagna after 154 weeks, three years and 225 hours of 140 Bhagavad Gita talks in the City.  The completion of the Gita Gnyan Yagna was described by Rt. Hon. Seema Malhotra MP as "a very triumphant moment in the history of Hinduism" and was described by the Deputy Prime Minister Rt Hon. Nick Clegg MP as a "historical completion".  The celebrations took place on 7 August 2014 at the offices of an international law firm in the City of London. This event was attended by world-renowned Saints including His Holiness Pujyashree Bhupendrabhai Pandya (the inspiration behind the talks), members of parliament, Lords, Knights, media personalities and community leaders.
History was written many times over at the completion of the Gita Gnyan Yagna of 140 Bhagavad Gita talks in the City because:
  1. the entire Gita Gnyan Yagna was given in English;
  2. the Gita Gnyan Yagna consisted of over 225 hours of talks;
  3. the Gita Gnyan Yagna continued for 140 Bhagavad Gita talks in the City over a period of 154 weeks;
  4. the entire Gita Gnyan Yagna was given at corporate organisation in the City (CMS Cameron McKenna);
  5. the Gita Gnyan Yagna was given by a corporate lawyer;
  6. the Gita Gnyan Yagna was given for free and none of the speakers even made a penny from the talks;
  7. the Gita Gnyan Yagna was given outside India;
  8. over thousands of people from all walks of life have attended this Gita Gnyan Yagna;
  9. the Gita Gnyan Yagna did not belong to a single school, religion or system of thought but included the teachings of many different great Saints, thinkers and religions;
  10. the Gita Gnyan Yagna gave opportunities to several young speakers to give the talks; and
  11. the Gita Gnyan Yagna has been broadcast to over 100 countries around the world.
This event marked the momentous and historical occasion of the completion of the Bhagavad Gita talks since we launched the Gita Gnyan Yagna based on the teachings of His Holiness Pujyashree Bhupendrabhai Pandya at an internation law firm in the City of London. The first ever Bhagavad Gita talk was given with Pujyashree Guruji's blessings by Dhruv bhai on 8th November 2011. Since we launched the Gita Gnyan Yagna, 140 weekly talks on the Bhagavad Gita have taken place every Tuesday (the auspicious day of Shree Hanuman, who has been present with us throughout), taking us on a journey through the commentary of all 18 chapters of the Gita with scientific, practical and logical examples to make this holy scripture accessible to young professionals. In the last three years, we have successfully continued this holy MahaYagna for 154 weeks right at the heart of the City of London.
This conversation between ShreeKrushna and the warrior Arjuna on the battlefield represents the journey of the individual soul from vishaad (despondency) in chapter 1 to moksha (liberation) in chapter 18. The celebrations marked the successful completion of this divine journey. It was a truly emotional moment for all our speakers and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make this journey possible.  We are all the more happy that ten people have given the Bhagavad Gita talks in this journey of three years.
The event celebrated the immense hard work that has been put in to organise all 140 Bhagavad Gita talks (over 225 hours of talks). The event began with a video-conference talk by His Holiness Pujayshree Bhupendrabhai Pandya on the last verses spoken by ShreeKrushna and Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita.  Dhruv bhaithen spoke on the very last five verses on the Bhagavad Gita, and was moved to tears during his inspiring and thought-provoking closing speech.  Dhruv bhai then videoconferenced His Holiness Pujayshree Bhupendrabhai Pandya to let Him know that the Gita Gnyan Yagna had been completed, and this led to an emotional conversation between the Guru and the disciple, with Guruji letting Dhruv bhai know how proud He was.  Jay bhai (who has attended the Bhagavad Gita talks right from the beginning all the way to the completion) then gave a speech on this journey and how Dhruv bhai achieved the impossible of working long hours as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer and completing this Gita Gnyan Yagna after 154 weeks.
We have inspired the younger generations that dedication, sincerity and unswerving determination to the cause of Dharma can break all obstacles. Never in the past was there a need of these divine teachings as it is today and, through this great victory, we have lit the lamps of Truth, love and compassion for the generations to come.  When ShreeKrushna spoke the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, He knew that this message was the eternal elixir for the human race and that it would apply at all times in the history of mankind, a message that would bring victory, fortune, welfare and morality to all those who heard it.  Over 5,000 years later we have continued this great, noble and proud Rishi tradition in the heart of the City of London. We have created something really special in the City, which has become a unique achievement for Hinduism.
Dhruv bhai, moved to tears, read out the following message of gratitude from His Holiness Pujyashree Bhupendrabhai Pandya to all those great teachers who made this great achievement possible:
"On the occasion of this great victory, we would like to bow down to various great personalities. I have always felt that people, be they a scientist or religious preacher, always stand on the shoulders of their teachers.  For example, Lord Govinda broke the pots that were high up but he had to stand on so many people's shoulders to climb up so He could break the pots.  If there were not the fifteen or thirty people underneath then he would never have been able to climb and reach to break the pot.  When I broke the pot to gain the mākhan (clarified butter) of wisdom of the Supreme Being, I too stood on the shoulders of many great personalities.  They have helped me and have shaped my thoughts.  I therefore wish to thank all of them.
First and foremost, I am eternally grateful to our ShreeKrushna, otherwise we would not have met through these talks.  I am thankful to Arjuna, who with his fingers, played the strings of the Sitar (a Indian musical instrument) by the name of Shree Krushna.  If a Sitar is sitting in a room and there is no one to play it with their fingers, then the Sitar will stay there for years and years.  You need someone to play it with their fingers.  And in my opinion, Arjuna is the musician who has played the music of Lord Krushna's philosophy of life and has therefore brought it to us.
I am grateful to Maharishi Vyas who wrote the words of this scripture so that we can read it to this day.  I am thankful to our great Rishi tradition.  This is a Yagna of a vast amount of wisdom and what we have is probably the hundredth part of it.  This is a snowball effect that I have been seeing for years and now I know what is going to happen.  Therefore at the inception of this great victory, I would like to express my gratitude.
I am grateful to Swami Vivekānanda.  From my childhood, I have always felt like he is my older brother.  I have not yet been able to understand why this is.  When I was young and we used to go on school trips to the Gateway of India, I always liked to go to his statue.  I did not like to go for lunch.  I did not like going to the Elephanta caves.  I did not like going anywhere.  During these school vacations when I lived in Bhuleshwar, everyone used to be magnetised to go and stare at the five-star Taj Mahal Hotel.  My friends used to stare at this hotel.  I used to stare at Swami Vivekānanda.  I have always felt that it is my older brother standing there.
Whatever Indian Sanskrit knowledge I have been magnetised towards, for that I will be thankful to two people for life.  One is my grandmother and the other is Swami Vivekānanda.  My grandmother's values and the small stories she used to tell me when I was a child gave me constant companionship for two years.  After that I only had the chance to go and see her during vacations.  When I was about 12 or 13 years old I lost my grandmother.  But I remember so much, like Grandmother used to grow a beej.  The other was Swami Vivekānanda.  I have read his works in detail and I have formed my strong vision of life from him.
I am grateful for I have studied and heard the works of many saints, but particularly when we are studying the Gita, I am grateful to Pandit Shripad Damador Satverkarji.  His name is perhaps not that well known in society, but whoever wants to learn the Gita in its true meaning must study his work called the Pursharth Buddhi Granth.  He has written this in three languages: Gujarati, Hindi and Marathi.  He is a Saint of the 20th century.  Near the town of Paldi there is a small centre called Swadhyay Mandal, where he did Yagna for his whole life.  He has given us translations of all the four Vedas and these are authentic translations.  He has even given us the translation of the Rāmāyan, the Māhābhārat and the Gita.  He has given discourses and has written books of many Puranas and of Yog.  Nowadays, whenever I give a discourse on the Gita, I immediately remember Pandit Shripad Damador Satverkarji.  His commentary on the Gita is so deep and meaningful that whenever I speak on the Gita one would think that these are Pandit Satverkarji's thoughts.  Just like we say for Vyāsji that Vyāso chishtam jagat sarvam (all the world of knowledge, in whatever branch of learning, art or science, is only that which has already been said by Vyāsa in some place or the other), I can say with full confidence that, in the last 50 years, all the world of knowledge on the Gita is contained in the writings of Satverkarji.
Moreover, I am also very grateful to the following: Shrimad Adi Shankracharya, Shrimad Ramanunjacharya, Shrimad Vallabhacharya, Shankaranandji, Parampuja Padurang Shāstri Āthole (I have listened to his discourses a lot during my childhood), Vinobhā Bhāve, Dr Rādhākrishnan, Prasandās Manek, Rajnishji, Juwān Mashkaro, Annie Beasant, Ravishankar Māharāj, Gunwanth Shah (for modern thoughts), Pujyabhāi Shankarbhai Purobhit, Uma Shankar Joshi, Swāmi Sachchitānandaji, Swāmi Sivānandaji and, I am taking this name last but with full respect, Swami Shree Akhananda Saraswatiji Māharāj.
The book that Swami Shree Akhanananda Saraswaitiji Māharāj has written on the Gita and his great knowledge of the scripture is wonderful.  If I gain any pleasure in breaking down each word and studying the Gita or any other scripture grammatically, then it comes from reading Swami Shree Akhanananda Saraswaitiji Māharāj's writings.  I just think how great it would be if I had his outstanding knowledge of the Sanskrit language.  I am extremely thankful to all these great personalities as well as many others both known and unknown, their writings and their thoughts, and I complete this study of the Gita by bowing down to their feet".
